For those wanting to know, they were going to chop his head off but Loki said they had rights to his head, not his neck and couldn't cut it, so they sew his mouth shut as a compromise.

For the curious ones. The reason why it was a flaw was the fact that this sort of hammer was supposed to be used with both hands for extra force. But Thor made do with the handle

The full story actually has a funny start. Ya see, one day, Loki, being the mischievous little bastard that he is, decided to shave Sif (Thor's wife) bald. Upon waking up and seeing his wife, Thor threatened to break every bone in Loki's body if he didn't fix it. So, Loki made the bet with the Dwarves, Brokk and EITRI (There is no "Sindri"). Loki did the whole fucking up the hammer, but when the Gods favored Brokk and Eitri, Brokk demanded Loki surrender his head. Loki then twisted the deal, saying Brokk could have his head if he could retrieve it without damaging his neck. Brokk was understandably pissed, but Odin himself stepped in, telling Brokk he was a fool to make a deal with the Trickster God. Brokk still wanted revenge, so, with the help of Thor, who held Loki down, Brokk stitched Loki's mouth shut so he could never deceive again

I thought the other flaw was that it was so heavy that even Thor had an hard time lifting it and needed his magic belt.
