I just do manual auto iso during day unless it goes too high then I change iso I don't trust the camera to get the shutter speed right so id rather do it

What an obsession with aperture priority.... Shutter priority for me is much more useful because I can quickly change the shutter speed depending on the subject I am going to photograph. Try to photograph someone on a bicycle cycling even at a moderate speed with aperture priority. Most likely you will end up with your subject not being on focus. If I want more depth of field when I am photographing static subjects or panoramas I will reduce my shutter speed which will automatically increase the aperture.

I’m just 3 months in and just starting to shoot in manual so please forgive my lack of understanding. I realize everyone has a different style/preference so I watched a video that said to shoot in manual auto ISO - what will be the difference in my photos if I change to this style? I shoot mainly family/portrait photography in early evenings/sunsets. Thank you so much!

Don’t take this persons advise. You’ll never learn and grow as a photographer.
