Ok but the idea of a kingdom thriving in the apacolypse after tapping into magic and shunning advanced technology is such a cool concept, like this civilization has lived with magic so long that they forgot their own past and that technology even exists, which could make its resurfacement as part of the plot a big shock for the main characters

There's also the fact that the Sphinx had its nose and during the Whole New World song we supposedly witness the moment the nose was lost which we know for a fact happened centuries ago.

Absolutely love it when people try to make some sort of connection when there is none. A lot of this is just writers and animators having a little fun with their work. This theory is someone putting just a little too much thought into something that was just a magical Disney story!

The Genie did unfortunately begin the trend of movie characters making endless pop culture references that clash with the time and context that the movie is set in. With the Genie, it's excused by him being a godlike being, and the other characters don't make such references and are just assuming that Genie is being quirky.

It isn't just pop culture references that give weight to this theory, though. When making Alladin into a prince, Genie remarks that Al's outfit hasn't been in fashion since the 3rd century. However, if he had been trapped in the lamp for 10000 years and still had been around to know 3rd century fashion trends, that would place the events of Alladin in the year 10300 at the earliest. Of course, we have no idea if it's BC or AD, but even the 3rd century BC would have Alladin be set in 9700 AD, well into the future.

They said this theory wasn’t true, but confirmed the theory that said the seller from the beginning of the movie was indeed genie and they also said that there was supposed to be a scene on the end of the movie showing that, but it was cut out :(
