I can’t believe this is still being discussed. I had 2 C sections, 80, 84 (my 2nd Dr wouldn’t let me try VBAC) and I had a natural birth in 1986! I was on such a high after she was born! No pain meds, no anesthesia, no epidurals. I had a normal labor & delivery. I went to the hospital when contractions were 8 mins apart. 🙏🏻Thank you God.

My first baby was born with emergency C section at week 32.5 due to complications. 3 years later my second baby, full term, was born with vaginal delivery, my doctors convinced me to go that road, I don't regret it but I think it was harder, more painful, post delivery stiches, hemorrhoids, loss of blood that caused anemia....but the experience of natural delivery, especially in my case without epediral, it is a memory for life.

This video was so straightforward and helpful! One month ago I had an emergency C section. I was surprised as it was a very healthy pregnancy, I’m in good health and didn’t see it coming. Ultimately my labor wasn’t progressing because of his positioning (sunny side up and a double cord wrap). Afterwards the doctor did tell me my pelvis/uterus looked good and I could be a candidate for a VBAC. Though I don’t want to get pregnant again for at least a year, I am starting to think about whether I’d want to try for it, or not. I really appreciate this content!

I like that this video is so straightforward. I am in nursing school and came across this while doing my research paper over vaginal births after c-section. I had an emergency c-section in 2015 with my first son because we lost his vital signs when i was about to start pushing. In 2019, I was able to find a doctor to let me tolac which was not easy, and I was able to have a successful VBAC. I wouldn't wish a C-section on my worst enemy, and I am so glad I advocated for myself. The worst part about my vaginal recovery was that my arms hurt so bad from holding up my legs lol. My C-section was a terrible recovery.

I have 3 children, the first was a C-section and the subsequent two were VBAC - this was in the 1980s. The vaginal deliveries were a piece of cake compared to the C-section. My first baby never flipped over and the foot was hanging down so that's why the C-section. Some women are in labor for hours and then have a C-section so mine was relatively easy but if you can go for the vaginal birth, do it. SO much easier on the body.

Can you have her back to discuss epidural complications and implications for subsequent deliveries?

A friend once suggested "VBAC" would be a great name for a 2nd album from a band called "Chord Blood". \m/

Interesting to see this podcast and remember back to the mid 1980’s in northern BC! First baby entered the world via C section. 14.5 months later our 2nd entered world. I recall little discussion about option of VBAC or C section. Or vertical vs horizontal incision. During the C section for the second birth apparently Dr. put blunt end of an instrument on uterus and it ruptured. The incisions were vertical…never was told C section pretty much mandatory.
Grateful still for the care we received and our two healthy sons are now approaching their 40’s!
Husband was first dad allowed into hospital for a C section delivery with our second.
How times have changed❤

Had a VBAC in 1995 after 2 C-sections. Best experience of my life. Very minimal meds, no epidural. Must admit, I look back now and thank god it worked out. It was a big deal back then

I had one 30 years ago. My first birth was vaginal. My second was C-section because of premature feet down presentation. My third, 13 years after my first was TOLAC. It was longer but afterward the best recovery.

Both C-section so close together. I won't change anything. Had to hurry wirh the first, I was awake and took just over 8 minutes. God us so good. By the way I was 21 and never had even a Cavity much less a broken nail before this. Wonderful medical team. ❤

Using those calculators are NOT evidenced based. Midwives in MN and current midwives here in WA said they do not use them because they are not evidence based.

31 weeks and im fighting for my right to have natural birth after two csections from 16 years ago. My first was because my daughter was wrapped in her umbilical cord and i stopped dilating, she came out blue. My second was a year later, mandatory. I healed really fast from both and I dont want to have to have a csection unless emergency. These things can happen to anyone not just those who have csections, its frustrating. I might have to look three towns over for any support.

1st child was a C section and a Vback on my 2nd. The vback entailed 100 sutures. And I couldn't urinate for a week . Turns out my pelvis is unusually small. I should have had another c section.

Excellent video. I have a suggestion for future episode. I AM NOT trying to be a trouble maker….but I would like to hear from doctors, especially baby doctors, what their opinion on when life begins for babies. I would like to hear from real doctors not just talking heads pushing one agenda or the other. Thank you.

My first child, 37 years ago, 11.2, yeah big, Cesarean section but 2 years later I didn't want a cesarean section because it kept me down for so long and went for vaginal birth which luckily I had no problems and then my third child as well vaginal birth. What I find interesting is my doctor at the time never mention any of the risks at all.

I had a c-section 38 years ago and then two vaginal deliveries after.
