In this video Taren explains the difference between hard intervals and smart intervals. Endurance athletes such as cyclists, runners, and triathletes tend to just exercise hard without a focus on training smart.

HI Taren, In your intro you talk about yourself breaking records. Could you do a video or discuss what records you have broken and how you achieved that? Thank you!

I have had a lot of help watching your videos for years now. Lately you have added music in the background. I really want to watch the film because I'm interested in the content but i get so stressed out and irritated by the background music that I can only cope half a video. Trust your content. We will listen. No need to make it catchy and hysterical. Thanks for everything so far!

Great vids Taren...watched almost all...have a quick question for you...planning to do an upcoming tri in a month (just a sprint)...my 3rd...however, I haven't trained any running on the road yet...I've done it all on the treadmill...am I in for a hurting...or is the treadmill sufficient...and I'm in my mid 50s...if that makes a difference.

The duration of the interval doesn't dictate what it trains, but then this is a sales pitch I suppose, not a factual talk

Using RPE to cool down is just totally stupid.

Intervals are about the recovery, not the effort. Training the body to recover from moderately high effort in shorter time....small bites

This is beyond moronic. You're comparing totally different trainings and claiming one has a better result without even giving context.
For example with the duration segment you claim it's better to do very short intervals (smart) vs the vo2max intervals (hard). Both are just complete different trainings with different benefits so it's stupid to compare. When you need to do a vo2max training, then do a fucking vo2max training. When you need to to a speedy short interval training, then fucking do that. One is not better than the other and both have a place in a training schedule.

The same goes for all the other examples in your list. You're just trying to sell that less hard work is better while that is totally bullshit. If you want to get results, hard ass training incorporated in a diverse and balanced trainingschedule is very much the way to go.
