Love it, no turbo no supercharger no bs engine, you know you'll have a solid car for 20 years.

I like that Honda engine spaces are alway very well ventilated with plenty of free space. The bad examples are BMW and Mercedes engines with no space to cool but cramped with tons of plastics to fail around 50, 000 miles even with regular maintenance.

R.I.P Vtec💔, but at least now the j30 is a DOHC and comes with boost. Vtec would've been the icing on the cake though lol. Great video!

Now you should make a longer video with the crazy details, I like to know more about all the tech specs.

2023 Ridgeline engine making a knocking noise at low speeds under 1500 rpm. started making knocking noise at 6000 miles. Only happens at the start of acceleration, mostly when engine warms up.
Took it into first dealer Chapman Honda in Tucson AZ and they said that's common for this engine.
I took it to Autonation Honda and had them review it; they didn't have any history for this issue according to their tech. After a few days they said they removed the serpentine belt and the noise stopped. They replaced the tensioner, that worked for a few days. thoughts.

Any thoughts on how this engine deals with build up on the valves due to direct injection? Other manufacturers use port and direct injection to minimize valve deposits.

from a mechanic’s standpoint, do you think these engines are less reliable than old J engines? debating if I should get this new Pilot or current Odyssey with sohc v6 vtec engines. You are awesome man! 🙏

Hi, can you do a video on how to install the smart vcm on a 2023 Honda Pilot trailsport. Thank you

I really liked your video! I wanted to ask if you could tell me which engine is more reliable, the Honda v6 in the 2023 pilot or the Toyota v6 in the Camry?

Have a ‘18 TLX 3.5. Interested in your professional opinion on disabling the vcm.

Thanks. I put a deposit down on one. I would love a look underneath at the oil filter that's mounted horizontally. Will I need a cap style wrench and how much clearance is there to remove the filter? Oh, and is there any plastic to remove to access the drain plug and filter? Thanks.

Thanks for the great info, look like this kind of engine doesn't have deep stick for transmission like older generation engine? is that me for transmission service, only dealer can do it? Thanks

Thanks for an interesting video. I wonder how reliable it will be compared to the current 3.5 in my 2011 Odyssey? I have had zero issues on ours.

Do you think this engine will be in the MDX when that model gets a midcycle refresh?

Wait until the aftermarket have an intake for these new j series, and you'll see how much plastic resonators you can remove.

I work at Acura and I'm very interested to see the new dohc n/a j series. Don't know if any of the newer Acura models will get the new j series

Great Video! Looks like Honda created some space on the passenger side of the engine compartment.... could that be for changing the timing belt W/O loosening the mounts????

Maybe it’s the big engine bay playing optical tricks, but does this engine look a bit on the compact side for a 3.5 liter V6?

Is "Cam Phasors" the same thing as the VTC found in the original versions of Honda's 1.5t engines?
