But it's so difficult when there's nobody to guide you and to be there for the ups and downs. It's so hard to grow up alone with parents who neglect and ignore your future.

It's only now I'm 40 that i realised the thing i got told off for at school - talking - is my superpower in my job. I'm a nurse. I work with people from every walk of life, in their darkest times. I can make them feel safe and comfortable because i can talk to anyone. I got told off at school for this all the time

Many would argue that it’s not an oversight, but is intentional in the design of school. John Holt and John Taylor Gatto wrote books about this.

Back in the day, that's what the guidance counselor was for. Now, their job is discipline, conflict resolution, and angst. In other words, as a society, we stopped focusing on productivity and elevated attitudes and feelings.

My father always did a thought experiment with me and my siblings. Once a year he would sit us down and ask us where we wanted to be in 5 years. I'm so thankful for that because my mind naturally looks to the future and what I need to do to get there.

I've been saying this since I was in jr high school. Teach me how to be what I want to be... accountant, lawyer, doctor, business manager, stock broker... tell me what jobs pay what, then let me choice and teach me how to be that. It's so simple. Smh

It's true, all they taught me through grade school was "just go to college" as if it'll just magically work out by itself. It didn't.

I did that as a parent. As single parent no one expected my child to succeed, including so called friends, including church. I repeatedly encouraged him to excel and shoot for the stars. He did and he did!

Taught my son this lesson shooting bows, we were talking and I asked what he wants to do, he said “idk” so I shot an arrow randomly into the woods. He asked why and I told him “anyone can shoot, it takes time and effort to develop a skill, and the only way to do that is have a target”

Jordan is the Plato, Socrates, etc of our time. He is the free thinking intellectual genius this world needs and his voice needs to be heard way more!

I'm a Veteran and decided to live in Europe. As such I sent my children to European schools instead of DODDS. All because the standards are higher and they teach what Jordan is talking about. Such a big difference.

When I went to school, I didn't have but a couple good teachers, that stayed in my heart and mind all my life.. ❤🎉
