I laughed at your comment of ego's It reminded me of building houses where a mistake was left for the building inspector. I fixed problem straight away, he was happy with his input and gave everything else a cursory or no look. You gave me a lot of good info for teaching my kids about the industry. Thanks

...i see there is still fire in your eyes for this movie stuff after all these years in this industry.
That' s why i love the work of Ian Hubert in blender - limited resources but the approach to make it look good.
Really enjoyed this episode, by he way.

I would like to say that I am very excited to wait for the next video when u feel free, to know why Blender isn't merged into the industry from a cg professional point of view

Found your channel a few weeks ago and you have been giving me a lot of golden nuggets. I came from the traditional art industry, moved into 3d character design and found myself loving vfx work recently. Thanks for all the amazing knowledge!

I am a director, and i happen to understand somethings about cgi and vfx. I mean I am a subscriber ;)

The problem with directors saying anything for the sake of saying something is, if you dont say something, producers and also artists tend to think that you are unsure or have no clou. Actually they lose faith in your skills and they grab for the control over the artistic decisions.
I still dont have this bad and time consuming habit, but i have to say its not just a directors problem, it s an industry problem.

luv your channel!!!

Great stuff once again! Really dig the 'do 75%' tip, makes the 'just make it look good' idea click a little bit better. On a side note, for those who are interested: There is a group on fb called 'VFX and CG pricing (vftreme)'. You can find some real VFX bids there that helped me understand not only how much stuff costs and how these costs are built up but also the different pipelines, tasks and departments there are in different studios. Good combo with this video.

I used to work at ILM Singapore and I can confirm with what you said at 18:00 is absolutely true! Fantastic video! Love it! Haha! I was a Tracker! They call it Layout at ILM, it was a great experience! I had to leave once I start a family, I can't pull the long hours and I'm not getting any younger. My eyes are destroyed staring at the screen tracking all day long.
