How to count in binary on your fingers

If you've ever wished you could read binary, a great way to practice is by counting on your fingers. If you use two hands, you can count all 256 possible numbers contained within a byte. And that's not even including thumbs.

This might seem pretty rudimentary, but that's the point. For some reason, I've never seen binary taught this way, but it really helped me get a handle on it (pun intended, but I don't know if I pulled it off). Hope it helps you, too.

Thanks for watching!

PS I'm planning to do a short series on bitwise programming which starts with counting in binary. Let me know if this would be of interest to you and subscribe to notifications to get notified when that comes out. Thanks again!

I start from the left, but this is useful to explain it. I can count to 31 on one hand and 1023 on both hands. I think I could count to a million if I could bend my toes accurately.
