I used a Manfrotto mini tripod with a sony action cam and just set it on the dash... I've had pretty good luck with that.. did the Colorado driving videos with that setup. I also use the Joby action clamp in the car from time to time but it takes some planning.

I ordered a dash cam from Amazon today.. It's supposed to be delivered today by 9.. Amazing.. Hopefully it's nit crazy to figure out how to use it..

lol thanks for the mention boss :) I would say the mic definitely soubds better than judt the camera mic, less echo. that tripod rig is HUGE man, lol you move it any further to the left and it'll be blocking your field of view!

The external is much better but the camera mic isn't bad, either. I bought a Pilot for $19. Can't use an external mic and I think it's going to be fairly worthless. The card is only 4 gigs and I'm not sure if it will take one much bigger. We'll see.
