Putin's troops withdraw from Snake Island; Russia's 'goodwill gesture' or kicked out by Ukraine?

Russia on Thursday pulled back its forces from a strategically placed Black Sea island where they have faced relentless Ukrainian attacks, but kept up its push to encircle the last bulwark of Ukraine's resistance in the eastern province of Luhansk. Russia's Defense Ministry said it withdrew its forces from the Zmiyinyy (Snake) Island off Ukraine's Black Sea port of Odesa in what it described as a “goodwill gesture.” Ukraine's military said the Russians fled the island in two speedboats following a barrage of Ukrainian artillery and missile strikes. Obviously Snakes Island no longer is of strategic importance to Russia which is why they withdrew their troops. No point wasting energy on a small piece of rock in the middle of nowhere.

It's neither "good will" nor "kicked out". Maintaining a defensive position on a very small island (cca 0.75 square km) like Snake Island doesn't make sense. Both the Russians and Ukrainians felt it. Too much cost for a slight strategic benefit.

Russia voluntarily left as a sign of good will so that they are not blamed for blockade of wheat export around the passage of snake island.

I think Ukraine doesn't have much firepower left to fight Russia. They are fighting the war with donated weapons from other countries which are not significant in number. So, Russia withdrew by itself l.

Yeah for 4 months they were on snake island and ukrainians were not able to kick them off after their all attempts, and if russians were kicked out there would have been war, but nothing like happened. Second thing is that Snake Island is strategically non important and undefendable so being a professional army Russia withdrew.
