Good to see you cover another modern animated superhero show, let's hope you talk about My Adventures with Superman as well in the near future

I love how the Batman voice is his real voice and Bruce Wayne's is the disguised one.

I have a mini conspiracy… The two changed characters are the Penguin and Harley Quinn, both of you have their own shows going on. Now when the Justice League show was on, they wanted to use Black Manta, but had to change his name because the rights to Aquaman characters were unavailable (this was when they were developing the WB Aquaman pilot), plus the Scarecrow and Two-Face were never in the The Batman (2004) animated series because they were being used in the Nolan films… so I think because the rights to those characters are attached to separate project, in order to have them on the show they had to tweak them… But that’s just my thought

6:05 almost 4 decades? Actually is precisely 3 decades. From 1992 until his passing in 2022.

10:28 I also had the same thoughts as you EROD, but, after watching the episode, I felt they executed the idea pretty well, with Selina, much like Harvey Dent, acting as parallell of Bruce Wayne, since they are both rich people with privilege who very sturbbon and dismissive towards those close to them (in the case Alfred and Selina's maid, Greta).

I feel the series will show both character following a similar journey, with Batman becoming more compassionate and open to his allies, meanwhile Selina, now that she's no longer rich, will begin to live on the streets and develop bonds with the people living there (maybe her sidekick Holly Robinson), becoming the feline anti-hero from the comics.

I quite enjoyed Season 1, but I hope we get more Golden Age villains in Season 2 (Dr. Hugo Strange, The Mad Monk, Dr. Death). Here my ranking of the season:
1. …And Be a Villain
2. The Killer Inside Me
3. Savage Night
4. Kiss of the Catwoman
5. Moving Target
6. The Stress of Her Regard
7. In Treacherous Waters
8. Night Ride
9. The Night of the Hunters
10. Nocturne

What I hope to see in Caped Crusader season 2

- The Fall of Rupert Thorne and the introduction of Black Mask, who could take over the Underworld (representing the fall of the mobsters and the rise of the super villains).

- Batman and Joker first meeting (taking inspiration from the "Man who laughs" storyline, written by Ed Brubaker)

- An episode showing Batman fighting Hugo Strange and his Monster Men

- The introduction of Scarecrow and he teaming up with Harley Quinn (since they are both mad psychiatrist)

- The introduction of Harold, Batman's mechanic from the 80's/90's

- The return of Selina Kyle and her becoming the anti-hero from Ed Brubaker run. Maybe they could even have Selina once again taking inspiration from Batman (who would probably begin to work more with Gordon) and creating her own gang, including her sidekick Holly Robinson.

- Bruce Wayne taking a more active role, using his company to make Gotham a better place and help the people of the city.

- An adaptation of "Bruce Wayne Murderer?/Bruce Wayne Fugitive", with Black Mask framing Bruce from a muder he didn't commit and causing him to be arrest. Much like in the comic, Bruce would escape but, at first he wouldn't try to clean his name, feeling that being open to others was a mistake and that being Bruce Wayne didn't nothing but cause trouble for him. But as he comes across people he help as Bruce (ex: Leslie Thompkins, the Robins and maybe a reformed Selina Kyle), he sees that he did made difference in their lifes and finds a new appreciation for his life as Bruce Wayne. By the end he would come to accept that being Bruce Wayne matters just as much as being Batman.
This arc could create contrast between Batman and Black Mask, who, unlike the hero, let himself be corrupt by the empowerment his mask profide him, to the point he freaks out when he loses his mask.

While not the same as BTAS, I still enjoy the show and see it as great love letter to Batman stories over the decades, with episode having Batman on different adventures, be a noir crime drama (the Penguin and Onomatopeia episode), a fun "cop and thief" comedy (Catwoman episode) or a supernatural story (the Gentleman Ghost and Nocturna episodes), all this showing how Batman is a adaptable character and capable of working in different scenarios.

You’re actually correct about Nocturna’s inspiration from Let the Right One In. Timm and co. were going to make her the orphanage’s rich donor who used her position to feed on children no one would notice, but they didn’t feel it. They watched the movie and got inspired to toss the old design to make her a kid.

Honestly this show was meh at best and not as strong as Batman animated series but that’s just my opinion

Small thing I noticed....in Nocturne, after Batman told Natalya that she killed her brother, the highlights in her hair were in a shape of a bat symbol. Just a neat little Easter egg.

I have mixed feelings about this show. It’s good, but could be better. I like how it’s a bit more serialized than B:TAS, but I’m not a fan of the episodes where we see the origin stories of villains that we’ve seen in B:TAS and other Batman media many times before with only slight changes. If Timm wanted more female villains, he shoulda created one instead of lazily gender swapping an established male one. We know he can do it because of Harley (whose change I didn’t mind since it was at least different). The best episodes are definitely the ones where we see Batman go up against “new”, more obscure villains like Firefly, Gentleman Ghost, and Onomatopoeia. I actually kinda dread season 2 because we will see Bats go up against Joker for the billionth time, especially with that strangely deep voice. Btw speaking of voices, Diedrich Bader does a good job as Dent, but I keep expecting that voice to come out of Batman thanks to Brave & the Bold. 😂

Great video. This was a good series. I loved seeing the Golden age Adaption of the character, loved the era and seeing the different designs of the characters looked good. I look forward to the next season.

I did enjoy this show's Harley Quinn but I didn't like her episode. It was such a missed opportunity, Bruce Wayne should've been one of her captives, that would've made for a more compelling episode. Also with Barbara Gordon I didn't have a problem with her being a lawyer but she rarely did any lawyer work. In fact she spent more time in high-speed chases, shoot outs and investigations I'm surprised they didn't just make her a PI. But I do agree with you its nice to just get some episodic episodes for a change.

And as usual, the Spectre's completly ignored. This didn't even mention that Jim's Corrigen part of the GCPD too in this. Hope this leads to a Spectre series at least.

To comment on your thoughts on Gender swapped Penguin. Yes Batman doesn't have a female villain at the same level as Joker or Ras' Al Ghoul, but the Penguin in this show didn't reach that level so it feels invalid. The main valid complaint of Gender swapping Penguin is Batman has dozens of female villains in the comics that haven't appeared in animation or the movies, so it feels ridiculous to just change the gender of a villain instead of using a female one
