BitBucket is written in Java actually! Keep in mind that BitBucket has server version which you can install in your own data center.

Main difference is just the price.
At my daytime job, we use GitHub.
However, i have my personal project at home and I want to make a private repo so I'm struggling because if i go with Bitbucket, i will have to learn the SourceTree UI which i don't want to. But if i got with the familiar GitHub, i'll have to pay... hahaha

Decisions decisions.

Thank you so much. That is what I needed to know.

I don't see why github is being questioned for not having JIRA. Isn't it natural for JIRA and bitbucket to join forces since both are products by Atlassian ?

Regardless I think VCS + issue tracking is a good combo.

Very nice comparison. Thank you! This video is getting close to 5 years old though and I know both (especially Bitbucket?) have changed a lot in that time. I would have loved to see something about Bitbucket's Trello integration and if GitHub has anything similar, and some more detailed side by sides like exactly how it is that GitHub's bug tracking is better, etc. I mostly just work on my local machine. I've used Bitbucket a little bit, and hardly touched GitHub at all. A more up-to-date comparison would be amazing and greatly appreciated!

5 dollars a month doesn't seem like a big deal, given that programmers are paid so much. If you prefer github user interface, why not use just that?

you mentioned you have to pay for private repo with github but I don't think you mentioned that with bitbucket you get free private repos oops you did mention right at the very end of the vid.
