51. Github vs Bitbucket - Full stack web development Course

In this Full Stack Web Development Tutorial Course video, We will be learning about #GitHub and #BitBucket.

What is GitHub and how does it work?
- Github is a web-based platform used for version control. It is a #Git repository hosting service, but it adds many of its own features. While Git is a command line tool, GitHub provides a Web-based graphical interface. It also provides access control and several collaboration features, such as a wikis and basic task management tools for every project.
Git simplifies the process of working with other people and makes it easy to collaborate on projects. Team members can work on files and easily merge their changes in with the master branch of the project.

Is GitHub free?
- GitHub Free now includes unlimited private repositories. For the first time, developers can use GitHub for their private projects with up to three collaborators per repository for free. Public repositories are still free (of course—no changes there) and include unlimited collaborators.

What is BitBucket?
- Bitbucket is our Git repository management solution designed for professional teams. It gives you a central place to manage git repositories, collaborate on your source code and guide you through the development flow. It provides awesome features that include: Access control to restrict access to your source code.

Is bitbucket free to use?
- Yes! Bitbucket is free for individuals and small teams with up to 5 users, with unlimited public and private repositories. You also get 1 GB file storage for LFS and 50 build minutes to get started with Pipelines. You share build minutes and storage with all users on your team or personal account.

Difference Between GitHub and BitBucket:
- If you boil it down to the most basic and fundamental difference between GitHub and Bitbucket, it is this: GitHub is focused around public code, and Bitbucket is for private use. Basically, GitHub has a huge open-source community, and Bitbucket tends to have mostly enterprise and business users.

Update: As per Januari 2019, Github also provides private repositories for free. Any other arguments remaining to choose between Github or Bitbucket?

I started with Github, got 2 years free, it is the best. I now use Bitbucket, the private repositories is the deal breaker.

Hi, I have been trying to follow along on my windows machine for the past 4 hrs with no luck. Every time I try ssh-add key.pub, 'Error loading key "key.pub": invalid format
' happens. I am new to all this, so I went online and tried out a bunch of stuff in vain. Please do help if you have any idea why this is happening. Thank you.
