(Correction) I mentioned the shopping mall was "Swedish" Owned, which is was. However in recent years its now Dutch owned via the Ingka Group. Which are the same owners of IKEA. The ownership structure is rather complicated. Thanks for understanding my error.

‘Western” brands are made in Southeast Asia mostly. Russia in fact makes lots of its own brands and hardly needs anything foreign.

This looks so much safer and advanced than the best mall in my area, the Galleria Mall in Roseville.

Most of the companies left Russia only in words. They changed the name and are working further.

Russell, as always a great video.
For reference. According to business publications, the Swedish company occupied 5-6% of the furniture market in Russia.
In 2020, IKEA structures in Russia earned 246 billion rubles (the share of this revenue in the world was 7.3%).
Ingka in 2023 still owns shopping centers in Russia with a total area of 2.3 million square meters, but is going to sell them. The interested buyer is Gazprombank.
After the departure of Ikea, there was a boom in the home goods market in Russia, sales are growing by about 10% every year.
We can say that Ikea has benefited Russia not only by its stay in the country, but also by its departure.

Professor, I introduced you (via your “Live”) to Senoir F and Ms M. They had never seen “Moscow Oblast” at Night through your apartment window! You are “Famous” because you help all of us in Deale, Maryland, USA, to see how nice you are and how beautiful Russia - Moscow Region is! God Bless You! Stay safe! Nurse Jane!

We are not going to miss ikea and others who left Russia. New brands and owners will retake these trading floors and premises soon.
These global brands will continue to shrink further in the world as it clearly appeared they are being guided by their politicians but not by business common senses.

Fascinating videos. Russian cities, shopping and transport facilities look so nice. I’d like to visit. Pray for peace, understanding, wise leaders to bring our countries together.

Love your videos! Even though I live in Moscow I enjoy your reports on what new shops have appeared and where, they are a great watch, especially so due to your very friendly and likeable manner, so soothing and positive! Thank you!

I worked on the reconstruction project of this Mega for 1.5 years as an architect. My part of the project was closed just after the 24th of February (the part that should have been done after the parking), so now I watch your video and cry a bit 😢😢😢 Every square meter was carefully modelled and a lot of drawings were prepared… But it was very interesting time!
Best wishes. 👍

I have been purchasing commercial equipment and lighting in Germany for more than 15 years, and for quite a large amount. Given the difficulties with payment and delivery, I switched to similar products from China and Russia. Now my partner from Germany constantly writes to me and offers different options for delivering his products through Turkey, China or Kazakhstan and with payment there. Only our friendly relations for 15 years do not allow me to write that during these 1.5 years I found a replacement for his products. Not the worst quality and design but 1.5-2 times cheaper!! Even if after some time the problems of trade with Germany disappear, I will not return to purchasing from this country. For what ?? Although my German partner is hopeful for the future. And this future does not exist

How effective are sanctions when most products are made in China and other SE Asian countries??

Just like the malls in my country, the only difference there's much more mall goers here. Thanks for the tour, from the Philippines.

With the strong trend in past few years to buy goods online, I'm absolutely amazed that Moscow has so many and such huge shopping centres ! No wonder very few people around !

Thanks Russell.
Swedish kingdom over 450 years was most brutal rapist military machine. Sweden's neutrality began after a disastrous loss of territory to Russia during the Napoleonic wars in 1812. 😧

The Russians should make their own brands.

Beautiful and modern shopping mall. Most of those brands that stayed or rebranded didn't want to leave the huge and profitable Russian market, no matter what the G7 countries said. Good for them!
