Coincidently, German in Venice YouTube channel just published a video on shopping in Germanys largest shopping mall. Quite a contrast.

Doesn't look too well Russel. And this is only the beginning with warehouses still full of old stock. Europe is quite succesful already diversifying energy imports and once completed more sanctions follow completely isolating Russia from the world market.

Greeting from Singapore. Wow what a clean and beautiful mall, some of shops might be temporary closed as the brand are still shown. Comparing to life in US and Russia right now, of cos we know, Russia govt are doing better and people are well taken care of. They are not starving.Gas and food are available and still much cheaper in Russia that are most important. In US, prices of gas, food, house rents are rising each day. Homeless and jobless are everywhere. Those are the reality and facts.

With absolutely no crowds around, that would be my ideal place to shop. BTW: Several of the "closed" shops had "Opening Soon" written on the canvas covering the shop front (Camper, Anna Pekun, BLCV).

Beautiful centre but it is odd that a large shopping centre was built so recently. In the West big retail parks like that have been on the decline. I'm sure nothing that like would have been built in recent years. They must have considered them viable in the planning stage.

Russell, good video and walkthrough! Certainly spectacular place! Frankly, I’m not sure the lack of traffic is due to sanctions mainly; you might get some ideas if you get to chat with any of the shop workers there, eh?

Impressive looking mall with state of the art parking structure management. Ukraine invasion or not, surprised that a “net new” mall got funded/ built out. In SoCal, malls have been dying over many years. Trend accelerated as web shopping increased. Pandemic has made shopping from home the preferred means of getting anything unless you need it now or just feel like picking it up. Free returns also made it easy to order multiple sizes / colors and return the ones that don’t fit.
PS - Hope there are tunnels to allow easy access during winter
PS2- LA Rams just bought one of my favorite shopping malls that was basically dead to be bulldozed and made into their practice facility / training camp.

If you've ever worked in a mall and have access to it before it's normal working hours, this is it. Beautiful building but there's nothing there.
