In solid edge, I use a resource A LOT, which is "replace face". Lets say, if I have a hole, and I want to get ride of it, I select the bottom of the hole surface, and replace with the top one, then the hole is gone! (in fact, my use for it is more sofisticated, anyway, it explains...)
I would like to be abble to use that concept, when modeling in blender, and I think this is the way.
THAN KYOU Ponte Ryuurui.

This helped me so much with the hardsurface tutorial. I had the front end of the parts rotated and did not notice it until it was time to render.

I wanted to come here and thank you. Awesome Tutorial.

thanks for pointing that out, those align tools are something I've neglected. I do think the last example could be done quicker, and without having to add a loop cut in cases where that wouldn't be possible, by
1. copy rotation data
2. shift s - selected to active
3. rotate 90 locally
4. snap to the target face by translating locally

"Alt A" brings me Pie Selection Edit Mode. But when I do "Alt X" as my Preferences says, I get Pie Delete...? How so?

hi sorry ive just installed plug-in version 1.3 and activated align pies but still can't find "align object to edge" or "align object to edge". please enlighten me 🙁🙌

Hmm at some point I've done something to the pie menus.
When I select both and click alt a it immediately completes the align task and leaves me with an option box in the bottom left I can edit after the fact.
Seeing as it's year old vid I dont expect any prompt response but does anyone know how to revert this?
It still obviously functions as I need it to but I'm just curious as to the cause.
Cheers

That's really great. It wouldn't work under one circumstance though, and I wonder if you have a solution for fixing it. If the plane you want to align had it's origin changed while it was rotated (maybe it was a surface separated from another, imported from another software, or maybe you just messed it up) then you can't rotate it from 90. Do you have any slick tips for getting the origin aligned to that plane so you can rotate it 90? I keep going back to the trick of creating Another plane. Align it to that one. Join the old plane to that newly created plane, then in edit mode delete the new plane. But that has the downside of taking on potentially unwanted properties from the new plane. You can use the move origin only checkbox along with face snap, align rotation to target, but that only takes care of Z to the normal. So then I use CAD tools, to finish rotating it.
So that's a bit of a long process. Do you have a faster way? Would be awesome if there was a tool to just give it a face for the Z direction, and give it an edge for X to be parallel to. (Even better if it selected one of the edges of that face automatically in that process in case it doesn't matter, or you just get lucky, to save time) Done. But I don't know of such a tool.

Really cool feature. Though as an architectural designer, I'd much rather use CAD transform addon because it has much more feature and snapping modes than this.

I think this is out of date now. Using Blender 3.6.1 and there are no align add-ons, and Alt-A doesn't do what this video suggests it does. Probably still good for older versions of Blender though

alt a doesn't work for me. every blender tutorial i watch, someone does something that doesn't even work in my blender.

GOP message "don't have kids if you can't afford them!" and the same GOP "no one having kids and turning into cats ladies!" Hypocrits!
