One thing with the top fins tanks. Check for bubbles under the black silcone.. check with a flash light and turn all lights off. def keep your eyes on that. I had a 55 top fin and that became a issue and silicone started peeling. So I went with seapora and aqueon with my tanks. Other than that was a great tank. Think u did a good job..u can only do what u can afford and I def respect that. It's just nice to see u back doing what u like.

I love mine. You have to run the cord through the channel on the filter body. I use biological media, a sponge & filter floss instead of those cartridges & that plastic baffle thing. Those penguin filters SUCK! The wheels never stay in place & there’s much less room inside to customize the filter plus the adjustable flow is a dumb plastic thing in the water… I add a pre filter sponge to my intake, as well to protect fish & provides more surface area for beneficial bacteria. I went through lots of different filters & this one is my absolute favorite one!

Im always curious if the plastic bio insert actually cultures bacteria?

I have bought two of these filters the IQ3 and the IQ 60. I bought these because my other two filters that I have for over 20 years that were like this from the same company wonderful except they were starting to become frail. Since I have installed these two filters I’ve had nothing but algae problems. The bacteria, the algae backs up into the motor and I don’t know how to get the motors free of algae. Any suggestions, ? Joanie

You should have rinsed that sand with a large net. At this stage I'd be doing several FULL water changes considering there are no fish in it yet. And, yes stir it up.

I dont get it. I have this one and the water flow sound drives me crazy even with the water at level. I had to remove the top as it rattled away.

if u order a custom baffle u can add a really powerful filter to a small tank i use a fluval 50 on each of my 2.5g beta tanks

I don't know about the tiger barbs. It's been a very long time since I've had them, but they will start to pick each other off if I remember correctly.

Next time that happens just do a complete water change and your water will be clear. 🤘🏻

I see u posted this a year ago so you may not see this question but I’m hoping you do find it. So I have had to replace my filters every 3-4 weeks they just stop running. I am stumped and thinking about getting rid of my turtle because I’m afraid if I can’t keep a filter running he may get sick. I can’t get my filter apart and I need help any suggestions are appreciated. HELP 😂
