The Ahom Dynasty

The Ahom Dynasty was a kingdom that existed in northeastern Thailand and the state of Assam. They reigned between 1228 and 1826. They were founded by a group from the Tai-Kadai ethnic group and resisted Mongol invasions in the Assam region. They expanded the region in the 17th century and took control of many Assamese kingdoms. They ended with the British capture of Assam in 1826.
