First heard a bit of this shanty watching Jaws, Capt Quint sang it like a warning to Brody and Hooper, drunk and laughing the whole of the time. Wonder if my great great grandfather, Capt Peter Cordiner ever sang this song while he worked his way from deck hand up to Capt, having been a runaway from Scotland and settling in the Pacific North West of America.
