I find it interesting the "teacher" in the show never actually answers the little girl's question. This likely means that there is no program for children orphaned from the purge. Likely that also means orphaned children are largely purged in follow up purges.

Interesting that the teacher's name was "Mrs. Lorelei" since in German culture Lorelei was a mermaid who lured people to their deaths.

What i find funny about the purge is that those who support it have never been affected by it personally and when their time comes they whine and cry about dying. To me thats hilarious

As someone who is an entertainer for children, this made me feel upset and hurt. Yes, it is for story wise and I am not blaming the writers or crew, I am upset about the in depth universe of The Purge and with this teacher. Yes, feelings are difficult to manage at times, especially bad feelings. At the same time there are healthy ways to express and communicate and even deal with these issues in ways that don’t hurt other people or ourselves. This teacher was using tactics and even lessons that are very similar to what Mister Rogers educated and turned them into negativity and it just hurts.
