If you want to not stay on the same layer put the layer the outline is on on “reference mode” and you’re done! :)

is there a way to fill in like this but on another layer?

I would like help with a different problem. Like I have a drawing, I color on a separate layer and yes I use that method and it works for me…. It’s just that I want to add more colors on that color, but when I draw on it to create a border (let’s say large stripes or odd splotches but it’s just the outline and I wanna fill it in) it goes out of the outline and proceeds to fill the previous color and even changes the hue. I don’t know how to fix that

All good, bit the crap leaves miniscule gaps between line drawn and fill, the fill option has ruined so many pieces because of that, or if there's 2 different tones beneath what your trying to fill a solid colour, it changes the fill toning to match, it's the most POS fill option

Guys my shape is closed, on same layer, no gaps, BUT IT STILL FILLS THE WHOLE PAGE.
