For decades researchers have tried to figure out a way to defeat one of the world´s deadliest diseases, killing 600.000 per year. Molecular biologist and malaria researcher Noushin Emami at Stockholm University is trying to decode the language of the ancient parasite controlling the malaria mosquito in order to be able to defeat it.

“Parasites can change the DNA of an organism. The scent is part of the parasite's external code language. To fight the spread of malaria, we must learn to decipher the code to understand the parasites' signals”.
