Regarding the last tweet of today's show concerning the problem of the lack serious people in politics, it was demonstrated wonderfully today, Media must hold politicians accountable for not only the truth or at least the facts but importance and relevancy as well...and yes it's ultimately because the people allow them to get away with it. It does seem to be a problem inherent in all variations of democracy since ancient times (cf. the first part of Plato's Republic, Book VI, ca 375 BCE)

An old adage say " It is better to know who is my foe than not knowing who is my ally". Great old nations toppled from within. Russia in the 1910's. China's Qing dynasty fell in 1911 to a more democratic government and later to communism in 1940's. Italy to a dictator in 1920's and Germany in the 1930's. All fell from within.
