This video is aimed at students about to commence Unit 3 and 4 study of VCE Mathematical Methods. These skills are essential, but assumed, knowledge for Unit 3 and 4 Mathematical Methods students.

This video is a review of the algebra of polynomials, including:
🔸 equating coefficients
🔸 polynomial division (long division)
🔸 the remainder and factor theorems
🔸 factorisation of cubic expressions

In this video, I work through a series of examples. You might consider pausing the video to attempt each question before checking your answer against my solution.

During the video, I also refer to synthetic division as an alternative to long division.

My class uses the Cambridge Senior Mathematics textbook for Units 3 and 4 Mathematical Methods for the Australian Curriculum / VCE. The work covered in this video corresponds to exercise 4C in that textbook.

Throughout the video I make use of the TI Nspire CAS CX II handheld.
