We need an EV version of the Fiat Panda 169 (2004 to 2011). It would need a new floor between wheels to carry batteries. Beneath the rear floor would be ample for power electronics. Most of the front would be a Frunk.

Love the economical projected price & shapely styling. Will it have LED headlights? I could see myself owning / driving one, if it could be registered for Australian roads. One may think a 2 seat car at this price is a no brainer; yet in India the Nano did not do well at all because Indians that could afford a car wanted 4 doors for their family; so the Suzuki 4 door did much better. Even dirt cheap doesn't always equal success. Maybe in the US where this could be a cheap commuter 3rd car it would do better.

Agreed on the need for lower powered EVS, with much more favourable insurance.
Though you are not quite right about power being instant, at least not full power. Which is I guess one of the reasons that most EVS have very powerful motors. Interestingly top electric trials bikes have a clutch to boost power from take off, though can be ridden without.
Safety, firstly it is mainly down to how you drive. You aren’t going to be making dodgy overtaking in such low powered vehicles.

The main safety sign off in the West is surviving crash tests not just airbags and bolt ons. European ncap safety regs. are very stringent. If these Chinese cars can pass then that is fantastic news for Europeans as at present the smallest EV's on sale are crazy money.
