I like that no matter how whonky or far-out the idea is, Dr Dan will engage with the argument in a level and even way.
These days if someone disagrees they're so quick to just write someone off and dismiss it out of hand. I really do think the former is the better approach. People believe some unusual things, and that's okay. Dismissing a person's closely held beliefs limits the ability to have a productive conversation.
I bet Dr Dan is a good poker player.

I would argue that *Anti-Judaism* is substantively different from *Anti-Semitism.*

There are many non-anti-Semites who would argue that the god depicted in the Old Testament is a moral monster.

Yes this is idea is wide spread today with new agers adopting gnostic thought. The bible teaches an eventual heaven on earth not an escaping from earth. Both Neo Platonism and Kabbalistic teachings have encouraged this addition.

Marcion wasn’t a gnostic, though. To say that he was anti semitic would mean that Paul was antisemitic, and he himself was a Jew. Marcion assumes that God was revealed by Jesus for the first time, and that the Israelite God was something for a different religion all together. He wasnt wrong, the OT God is different than Jesus.

It's not that we live in a prison planet but that many Christians do not see this world as their home and see life here as living punishment.
Edit to add: I do not see this as a good thing. Christians I've encountered with this view tend to have a very myopic and callous thought to the world and people. And they focus on heaven and either Jesus' second coming or eternity in heaven.

What I find frightening about people with this "prison planet" mindset is that they see it as an excuse to treat this beautiful world that is all we know as junk.
