The old, the venerable, the Morakniv Kansbol. This knife is no new kid to the block, but today we are diving into the pro's, cons, and putting it up against competitors to decipher whether or not this blade is still worth picking up and running in 2021 or 2022.

I am a poor working class person and I ordered one last night.. for edc I know it isn't the greatest but definitely seems a good choice with my limited options.. I was about to finance a Benchmade 940 but I realized this one is more practical for nearly anything

I agree with your comprehensive review. I would estimate that 90% of knife buyers in this category are not hardcore bushcrafter or primitive firemakers, so that the Kansbol, for price vs quality, along with most of the Mora line will be excellent performers & cherished additions to anybody's kit.

👍 Good review.
I have owned all 3 knives used in your comparison.
To me the Bushcraft Black was a disappointment, as you mentioned the handle is odd.
I feel the Condor is an excellent option to the Garberg.
To me the advantage of the Kansbol is 1) the dual grind of the blade which I do feel gives it more functionality, 2) the handle is ergonomically one of the best production handles I have ever used, and 3) I am a big fan of orange handles. In a perfect world the knife should be in your hand or the sheath, but it is not a perfect world and Orange is easier to spot in the wilderness than black or green.
I think as a group we have become too thrilled with “super steels”. Properly heat treated I have never had a knife steel refuse to cut. Plus ALL knives do become dull (generally at the most inconvenient times) and I prefer steels relatively easy to sharpen in the field. I do wish the Kansbol did come with a carbon steel option.

This model of Mora is one of Survival Russia's favorite bushcraft knives. Thanks for a great video.

The Kansbol is a fantastic knife. It’s great for a camp knife, food prep, bushcraft and hunting knife. I used mine this year on my elk hunt and it did an excellent job skinning and field dressing my elk. The thinner beveled tip was great for getting in along the spine to remove the backstraps and while not ideal for caping it still gets the job done. I did have to resharpen a couple times though as the coarse hair and thick hide of elk is very hard on your edge.

own the same knife, it's a good knife. The blade retension is good and I use the Worksharp pivot sharpener, when I am doing task during weekends away from home. Great knife. I am from Malaysia...

As a farmer this kansbol is a great knife for me. Some people say it's a good beginner's knife, but I don't agree with this statement. Beginners will beat the crap out of this fine tool...it's cheap but not that cheap, plus it's a shame to abuse a quality tool! One of those cheapest mora knifes is much more appropriate for inexperimented newbies.

On my Kansbol (and Terrasour) I replaced the leather belt loop with a plastic clip so I can remove it without taking my belt on and off. Makes it easier to sleep at night as I am a side sleeper...
Also I can now wear it no matter what pants I am wearing or if I am not wearing a belt, sweat pants, swim trunks it doesn't matter.

I have that exact same knife. It’s the knife we keep it at the campsite. Comes in handy for food processing and Wood tasks. I noticed some Youtubers are having custom-made knives with these two grinds. Then again they’re asking two to $300 I’ll stick with this one. Stay safe.

I have a green kansbul on my daily used garden, forage pants with heavy belt. I tuck the sheath into a pocket to stop the constant flip flop. Now my favorite harvest knife! The stainless edge is more prone to roll over than my companion carbon.I would like a carbon slender tip blade better!

This Mora blade shape is far better for kitchen slicing than any other Mora.

I’ve had a Mora Eldris for years now, I use it everyday. It’s been a great knife.

The Kansbol is a good knife. I got a custom leather sheath for my Garberg, so I put my Kansbol in the old leather sheath the Garberg came in. I'm not a big fan of the plastic sheaths. Just a personal preference.

While I used to be a 1095 fanboy, these days I'll take 12C27 over it. It outperforms 1095 in almost every way except developing a nice patina 😄

surprised no-one has done a kansbol vs 2000 comparison .. and what the kansbol offers over and above the 2000.
