I've never added the spices, but I like the idea. My usual ratio is 1 cup rice to 1.5 cup water (a 1:1 ratio with 1/2 cup for evaporation). Love your videos. Food always brings humanity together.

Hi ☺! TYFS!! Your rice looks Amazing, SO fluffy. I use Cardamom pods & Cinnamon in my coffee maker. The coffee comes out just Divine. I've never used those spices in rice. I do use Star Anise in my spare ribs recipes (Pork &/or Beef)! That is a great spice. I will be trying all 3 spices in my next pot of rice, thanks to you 😛! I use Basmati &/or Jasmine. ☺☺

I add one tablespoon of olive oil to prevent the rice from sticking together but I'm definitely gonna try this method.

Last time I tried to cook rice in a saucepan like this, I ended up with a layer at the bottom that gets glued to the pan and takes ages to clean off.
What do you think went wrong?

My rice always runs out of water after 10 minutes… I always end up pouring 1 more cup or more.. making the ratio 1:3.5 in the end. I am using long white grain rice. Do you have any idea why it happens.?

Personally I don't add spices to my rice. Like it plain or the way it's cooked in Latin America, Caribbean, Japan, China, etc. It's all a matter of personal taste. The only time I know of that we add spices is when rice is used to make a dessert (e.g., rice pudding).
