got diagnosed only a few months ago, it was so overwhelming for me to even look at the food. I could not imagine that I had lost a healthy life in just a blink of an eye it broke me but one day I woke up looked in the mirror and said to myself its not my fault but it sure is my responsibility. I haven't looked back since I cannot emphasis how important our attitude towards any adversity is, it changes the game big time I wish anyone who is struggling will find just enough courage to redirect their minds towards a healthy attitude as it makes everything bearable to a certain extend

This was awesome. I’m 29 and just diagnosed with diabetes, although not sure which type yet. Blood results to show in the coming months. But I don’t think that matters. These pillars hold true for any type. I was feeling a bit down but this reinforced the idea I or anyone else with diabetes can live a normal life.

so beautifully put to accept adversity in this case T1D as life's way of showing how strong you can be in your reaction to it.

Sarah Halberg has a very informative Ted talk on diabetes, backed by science. It can be helpful to T1D patients, definitely for T2 patients.

One of the biggest improvements for those of us dealing diabetes is the long term insulin like Lantus. Next would have to be the blood testing. In the past we used urine and a litmus type paper to check our glucose level. It seemed you were always in a bathroom peeing in a cup before and after a meal. Or after doing some strenuous work.
My roommate was a type 1 and it was worse for him. He'd found out when he was 12. He passed out and went into a coma for a short while. By the time we were 16 he was as thin as a real, constantly checking his glucose. He and I kept candy on us in case we were too low or a piece of fruit. I got into the habit standing where I could smell his breath while he was speaking for the tell tale smell of Juicy-Fruit Gum indicating he was in Ketoacidosis, low blood sugar but actually a PH imbalance.
You can tire of this routine after a while so sometimes you tempt death eating or drinking things you shouldn't. What the heck, I've insulin on me, I'll just take some and I'll be alright.
