This exotic sounding track is based on Phrygian Dominant which mode V of Harmonic Minor, in this case A Harmonic Minor. This scale is used extensively in Baroque Classical music, Flamenco from music from Spain where the Moorish influence can be clearly heard and it's also very common in Metal. Players like Yngwie Malmsteen have made it into a trademark sound. This piece is at the more mellow end of the sound the scale produces. Nice track! Pure Spanish sound apart from the effects! I can hear flamenco all over... Sounds great if you jam along with a Spanish, or a classical guitar!!

Love it. Very inspiring! I'm trying to figure out how these two work together. E Phrygian is the same as playing A Aeolian. A Aeolian shares notes with A Harmonic Minor Scale. I tried both and it sounded great.

OK cool tune. If you happen to play a transposing instrument, the notes that fit perfectly are: G A B C sharp D E F sharp G. these will fit a Soprano Sax (B flat) perfectly and it's ideal for this amazing exotic sound.

This mode is used a ton in Metal just look up the band Shokran or go listen to Metalica. Vitalism also uses this mode.

I think if you play on the fret board enough, you can figure out a nice lead pattern to this, and not even worry about all of the scale names etc....
