Awesome back tracking and I love the sound. I broke this down to an A minor harmonic, starting on E which is the 5th in the A minor scale. G is the seventh in the minor scale, but we sharpen it to G#, very cool, and sounds awesome.

you can also try using a mode of the A melodic minor scale which gives it a very bright twist in contrast to phyrgian dominant being quite dark. Something like E mixolydian b6.
