A major project decades in the making, and thought by some to be out of reach, took a major step forward on Tuesday night in Virginia Beach. Virginia Beach City Council voted 10-0 to accept $14.9 million in federal funding from President Biden's Bipartisan Infrastructure Law and to provide a $3.9 million local match to complete phase 1 of the Virginia Beach Trail.

I live near the park in town center. This has been hugely disruptive due to the lack of regard for pedestrians. The construction has now expanded to take up all of the land around the town center park and for at least 3 blocks of the railroad tracks. They dumped gravel and rocks and put down big wooden mats to turn the tracks and fields into roads for construction vehicles. They are not cleaning up as they finish one area and move on to the next. They have covered public sidewalks and blocked access to trails. There is trash everywhere, it is extremely unsafe, and there are signs up at all of the green spaces saying the areas are closed. You cannot even walk the loop around the park at this time due to the construction of a hotel on the corner of the park. It is reasonable to expect to be able to walk in the park or on the sidewalks in your own neighborhood. What is being done to maintain peace and safety of residents while this long term project is underway?

Millions and 5 yrs for part of the 13 mile trail? What the heck happened to light rail, and yall need to get over yourselves, "unanimous " vote. Rebudget those milkions into the projects, and rid them of the drugs, and illegal weapons.
