6 months vegan strong and gained a bunch of muscle during the time.

I'm doing this at 41

I have a great weight loss story and ended up going pretty much WFPB and never turning back.

AJ is very funny, inspiring and informative. She's a big fan of Dr. Mcdougall and so am I. There's a video of her on TV with Johnny Carson. Really a great interview. Edit: video called "Chef AJ on the Tonight Show with Johnny Carson".

Yeah I am my same weight as I was in college maybe even high school. Before I was whole food plant based I was around 210 and increasing. My dad got cancer and did my research and found this diet out about 9 years ago. My daughter said I look like a high school student Lol. Oh and I am 50 years old and still skate board, unicycle and juggle.

I am 100% WFPB and believe in the health effects. I lost 60 pounds on it but I began putting weight back on. The reason I was gaining weight was I began listening to the people who say EAT ALL YOU WANT. That's a dangerous thing to say to a food addict. EAT FOOD, MOSTLY PLANTS, and the kicker line I was ignoring is NOT TOO MUCH! Don't be deceived, YOU CAN NOT eat all you want. If you eat a 4500 calorie WFPB meal, you'll look like a watermelon. Garth Davis, a vegan bariatric surgeon says you can gain weight by eating too many carrots. Rice, Beans, Whole Grains, edamame, potatoes, Oat Groats are great, but the calories quickly add up. I starting gaining when I listened to docs say eat as much as you want. You see be careful. Most people need around 2000 calories. You certainly can eat more WFPB food than SAD food, but not in massive 4 - 5 thousand calories worth. Impossible you say. A cup of hummus is 500 calories. Add that to 1 1/2 pounds of potatoes and you're at 1000 calories. It adds up so quickly.

Many people say YOU'RE WRONG. I ate all I wanted and I lost weight. Well... I say add up the calories you are eating and you'll see you're around 1900 to 2000. Once I started watching the calories and stayed under 2000, the weight dropped off like crazy. I would hope the creators of this channel address this and not delete the comment

Chef AJ's recent video with Dr. McDougall about potatoes got me back on the plant based diet and I feel much healthier.

It’s more realistic to say u can eat more and don’t have to restrict, which is freedom for those who restricted for decades. To say u can eat unlimited is fine for those who are mild food addicts, but to say eat unlimited to a raging food addict, is reckless, IMO. I follow Dr. Furhman’s program because it limits the starchy portions. That DOES matter to me. Dr. Barnard says to watch the glycemic index if u have blood sugar issues. I stay in the 69 or less range for that. When I didn’t at first, I was weak and dizzy. So be careful & use your common sense. For me, I can’t be told to eat 1/2 of my plate as starch. I could eat 10 or 20 plates per day. Lol. I also keep my diet more towards living and raw foods. The cooked meals can get out of control and don’t have the nutritional value that the living foods do. That’s ok I guess if u are super healthy with no disease issues, but that potato diet makes me cringe. Cannot be healthy, IMO.

People with my genetics tend to be fat if enough food is available. It is possible to not be fat but these are exceptions.
