The Gaia Hypothesis

Ending trailer by Ben Patrick Johnson

Are we at one with the Earth? Is our relationship with our planet..symbiotic? This may sound like the ramblings of a dirty, tree-fondling hippy, but the idea to which we are referring is a genuine scientific theory put forward in the 1970's by chemist James Lovelock and microbiologist Lynn Margulis. Also known as Gaia Theory, Gaia Principle or Gaia used to hang out with but stopped when he wouldn't quit touching me, this idea originally proposed that our planet's habitability was regulated by the presence of life. The Gaia Principle could be seen as nothing more than an attempt to reframe how mankind sees the Earth, how it sees itself, how we think about the environment and how we treat all life throughout the world and beyond.More evidence in support of the Gaia Hypothesis can be found within Earth's oceans and through the measurement of our global temperatures.

Even if the Gaia hypothesis isn't exactly true, if we follow it and respect our planet humans will be around a lot longer. Isn't it better to put our faith in something that's gonna keep the planet healthy than continue destroying it in hope of finding something with more evidence ?

We are just bacteria living on the surface of the earth. Bacteria can have a positive or negative effect on the host, let's make sure we are the good kind of bacteria :)

For those interested in this theory, two books I would highly recommend are:

"Plant Intelligence And The Imaginal Realm: Beyond the Doors of Perception into the Dreaming of Earth" by Stephen Buhner.
ISBN: 1591431352

And "Intelligence In Nature: An Inquiry Into Knowledge" by Jeremy Narby (2nd book)
ISBN: 1585424617

In addition, this:

This is so true to me.. I was camping on week and while walking arounds I got the feeling the earth is a super intelligent entity that restores itself.

What if Humanity is actually the Earth's reproduction system? Maybe we are meant to colonize new worlds so new systems like on earth can be born.

Why wouldn't we be a part of earth? Earth is like a sandwich molding and the mold questioning their existence wondering if they are one with the sandwich.

Its not really bonus content if you make people pay for it.

I would say we are more like a pathogen or cancer upon the earth really.

We are all a integrated part of the same system.

Everything has energy. Every object, plant animal human etc vibrates to a specific frequency. Everything that has energy has the ability to change with interaction as it either contains cells/molecules. Where there is water, heat and air there is bacteria, fungus etc. These are living cells. They can evolve. We humans didn't just appear. We evolved. It's amazing really 😍

Humans are the children of Gaia, but as of late I fear she is disappointed with us. I wish to live in a green energy world so that we can live in tune with The Great Mother.

If the gaia hypothesis is true, which im convinced it is. Then that means that there is something of a higher power that put us here. As plants produce oxygen, and humans produce carbon dioxide to make plants live, etc.

Our understanding of life and intelligence has been growing. Gaia could be alive like a plant is alive. Plants eat, breath, grow, reproduce and can move to aim more at a source of light

You know you're not her favorite when you get defeated by Gaia in Age of Empires :(

Beatiful theory, I knew about it or a version of it through Asimov and it stayed with me

Given the facts I know, yes, our relationship with Earth is exclusive and we would have many problems adapting even to a "near" earth.
