James Ephraim Lovelock, CH CBE FRS (born 26 July 1919) is an independent scientist, environmentalist, and futurist who lives in Dorset, England. He is best known for proposing the Gaia hypothesis, which postulates that the Earth functions as a self-regulating system.

With a PhD in medicine, he performed cryopreservation experiments on rodents, including successfully thawing frozen specimens. His methods were influential in the theories of cryonics (the cryopreservation of humans). He invented the electron capture detector, and using it, became the first to detect the widespread presence of CFCs in the atmosphere. While designing scientific instruments for NASA, he developed the Gaia hypothesis - Wikipedia (2018).

I hate 'liking' this video cuz it was depressing as hell, but I appreciate the magnitude of Mr. Lovelock's work.

The earth is a sentient organism theory. I'm aware of it. I'm neither for or opposed to the theory.

Nature is always trying to balance things. As pointed out near the end of the video it's all an ordinary,  natural process. Unfortunately, human greed, to burn and ravage the earth's resources and, not to mention,  natural inclinations and social processes, will lead to human depopulation and possibly total extinction. The Earth will eventually repair itself -- but it's hard to say whether there will be any remnants of humanity left.

Why does this documentary give so little attention to Margulis, Kropotkin, Rizpolozhensky, Vernadsky and Kostitzin?

Interesting theory, tho I get the feeling that he's conflating to many different concepts, as well as not looking at a much larger picture. I also get the impression that he starts with a conclusion, and then finds evidence to support it.

I'm by no means in anyones camp here, there are many valid points on all sides, unfortunately the extremists, (as always), get the most attention. Looking at all sides is imperative.
