This technique has become my daily staple - using taupe brown with hint of purple, cold dark brown or very desaturated purple and a hint of black (I'm high contrast, so it really reads natural). It's a really effortless "light grunge" style that's almost universally flattering if you adjust the angles for your eye shape.
