I know that this is going to be some kind of multiverse thing and they’re gonna be like “He’s played by RDJ because he’s a dark reflection of Tony Stark” but I really want this to be a Stan Lee situation where it’s the same guy playing two very different characters and they just don’t address it.

Edit: I keep hearing people say "He's not a Tony variant he's Victor" I know, but that doesn't mean they aren't going to try to draw some thematic parallel between the two characters or make the fact they have the same appearance into a plot point.

I see two ways this could work. One is that it is a multiverse variant. The other, the one I hope for, is that he uses completely different mannerisms and wears his mask most of the time; and if he does remove it, it leans towards the fully disfigured interpretation of Doom.

My only gripe is that they didn’t get a romani actor to play a heavily Roma coded character like Doom. Though given it’s track record with Romani white washing, I shouldn’t have expected much from the MCU.

Other than that though, this casting is bonkers yet weirdly ingenious.
Doom being a variant of Tony makes way too much sense…

It took me a few minutes to process that this wasn’t Marvel trolling like they usually do. Honestly, a better and even PERFECT idea to bring him and other actors back would be to bring the Supreme Intelligence back! The Supreme Intelligence takes the appearance of whoever the viewer admires meaning they can be played by anyone! I don’t care that Carol killed them. We’re in the Multiverse era; they can have their own variant. Maybe they know they’re doing and it’s not desperate. We have two more years to figure it out

Its just kind of a disappointment that we’re not going to see a proper live action dr. Doom. This character seems to be cursed by writers constantly wanting to change him away from his comic book counterpart

I am willing to entertain bonkers ideas but tbh I can't say I'm not at least a little heartbroken by the casting. Doom's Romani heritage is important to the character and casting a White actor just for the shock value of bringing back someone who quit the MCU doesn't exactly fill me with hope.
