I'd recommend Juliet Marillier & her 'Sevenwaters' series - it combines fairytale, natural and family elements. Marillier is a NZ author & has a lot of historical fantasy stories to choose from :) Happy reading :)

I second the recommendation for Juliet Marillier! Beautiful writing that weaves nature, relationships, and fantasy/folklore together. I loved when you talked about fantasy being an escape- exactly why I read the genre!

Elizabeth Jane Howard’s book series about the Cazalets is wonderful. It is a series of books about a family before, during, and after WWII. I believe it was the BBC that created the miniseries based on the books. I enjoyed it as well. The first book is called “The Light Years.” I enjoy your channel so much because it relaxes me when I am stressed, and I am stressed a lot. 😀

Every time I see one of your vlogs I'm so happy! I bought some fantasy too, for exactly the same reason - escapism. I haven't tried it yet, but want to! I really want to read this now.
What a haul!! I did exactly the same and bought that Margaret Atwood book, then found out it's the second in a trilogy, boo.
Have bridge of clay, must read it, as I adore the book thief so so much.
I must get aminata forna's book.
Lunch boxes - all I have to say is argh!! They are such a chore haha.

Sorr6 for being so late but I have been overwhelmed lately by work (a huge project at its peak). It was nice to see you trying to read that book. I have never read her but she is so famous. Her series Terremer (Earthsea) is famous. First a trilogy then two other books and a short story collection ! Sam Shepard is one of my favorite late actors and a writer (plays and fiction) your edition is beautiful ! I know you had The handmaid’s take on the tip of your tongue (as we say in France) ! I loved this book. It’s supposed to be tapes recorded by a young woman. I got the audio version with Claire Danes (and the extra sound effects of a tape recorder) and it was really good 😌 I have no time to record a video so you’re doing better than me ! Glad your son is doing great again. Hope you enjoyed my first videos ! I still have to shoot my neighborhood ! The Mexican cookbook looks so good (abuela means grandmother in Spanish) take care !

How did I not know about the library book sale feeling quite jipped now. Those cookbooks look great. I haven’t read much fantasy but I do enjoy ones that take you away to another world. I have on my shelf the bear and the nightingale trilogy which I’ve heard nothing but great things about but I’m waiting for the season to get a bit cooler

I would highly recommend The Bear and the Nightingale it is a fantasy book based on Russian folklore tales and it is a trilogy. Hope you give it a try

I remember that cover! I think I read it when I was a kid, should go back to it, can't remember a thing about it at the moment. I've been through my Fantasy fazes. Tends to be some great series in the Fantasy genre. Not sure if I'm as much of a fantasy series reader anymore.
Love Nat! During the fires hubby bought jar sauce, made me look at him sideways and then Nat was on FB. He's pure joy. Needless to say, the jar sauce is still in the pantry 12 months later, lol.

Spirit Song is great! Picked it up last year and read it. Night Tiger, very interesting! I keep meaning to read Hollow Bones. So many great books, could comment on each one!
Crossings by Alex Landragin is a cross genre Fantasy/Historical Fiction that I loved. The best read so far this year. Was shortlisted for The Voss (I really like that prize).

I haven't read any Le Guin, but I will start with the Earthsea trilogy. I loved Kim Wilkins' Daughters of the Storm trilogy. You might enjoy that. Also recommend Juliet Marillier.

Le Guin! I'm so glad you enjoyed it. She's quite a master of the fantasy genre from what I understand, the plot of Harry Potter is draws heavily from Le Guin. Really enjoyed the vlog 😃
