General Motors Drops BOMBSHELL – Industry SHOCKED!

General Motors has announced it will permanently halt production of the Chevy Bolt, the company's flagship electric vehicle (EV), and its best-seller that makes up over 95% of GM's EV sales. The decision was made by CEO Mary Barra, who said Bolt production would be replaced to produce electric trucks. The move is likely to significantly impact GM's EV strategy, especially given the Bolt's record production and sales, and comes as the company faces mounting competition from Tesla due to recent price cuts. Ceasing the Chevy Bolt could be a setback for the company's future prospects, as it shifts its focus from smaller vehicles to larger SUVs and trucks. Tesla could also create further turmoil for GM with the upcoing launch of the Cybertruck, attacking the pickup truck space. #tesla #elonmusk #generalmotors

Do you think General Motors CEO Mary Barra is making the right move to shift from the Chevy Bolt, to electric pickups? How will GM's ramp up compare to that of Tesla's Cybertruck? Be sure to watch:

GM is ABSOLUTELY taking the WRONG direction. Small commuter EV's like the Bolt are hot - big EV trucks are NOT.

Watching GM is like watching a train wreck in slow motion

Why anyone would buy a GM electric vehicle after they killed off the EV1, abandoned the Chevy Spark and killed the Bolt (and Volt) is beyond me. I would have zero confidence that any Chevy/GM electric vehicle I would consider purchasing would still be supported just a few years after I bought it. Three strikes and you're out, GM.

What hurts legacy automakers is their dealer network. They are selling over MSRP which makes people say FU. I’ll just go buy a Tesla. I was looking at the Chevy Blazer EV and the top trim is around 68k. Tack on sales tax and dealer markup and your around 80k. So you get the 7500 rebate but still. Who is goi g to pay that for a Chevy blazer EV that relies on slow 3rd party charging?

It is ironical that it appears that EVs will crush GM.

Maybe if they hadn't killed the EV1, they'd be ahead of the game and have the biggest market share, lol

Wonder whether GM will be bailed out again, when going bankrupt again?

The Bolt was the only GM product I even considered buying. Clearly, this is an attempt to increase net profits. American automakers are heading towards a cliff and they're punching the accelerator.

You did it Mary, you’re a leader in the EV industry, well done!

The Volt was a good car and could have had potential like the Prius but they dropped that car. Now the Bolt. GM says they are getting ready for economical down turn by slimming the work force and I understand that. However going to large EVs SUVs and Trucks that are expensive to own is going to hurt them in the end

Terminating production of products that people love instead of managing to make them profitable for the company is not a good policy... 😉
(Not to mention not trying to make them more competitive...)

Simple to understand. Legacy automakers are making EVs with an ICE mentality and that is why they are losing. If they cant think out of the box and have super talented engineers, they will lose. And way to much red tape within these automakers. What makes me think, is that the CEOs come out and say they are going to destroy Tesla rather than going to work. Just because they say it, does make it so?

Wow! will Mary ever get a big bonus this year!

I like my Bolt, it's an affordable car that meets my needs.

In a hole and still digging. The American car industry has failed, is failing and will continue to fail. This is absolutely terrible. The financials in three to five years will destroy the workforce.

Once again GM is convinced that everyone wants to buy a truck, not so.I own a 2014 volt which I Love! It still has the original batteries . They couldn’t be more wrong!

GM just announced an all new original EV:

GM stocks rise on announcement of cancelled production on their NUMBER ONE SELLING product - company wide.
As Tesla increases per unit profits while reducing retail pricing for a larger EV market share and it's stocks fall in value. WTF?

One should be wary of purchasing an EV (or any automobile) that is being produced at a substantial loss. This includes many of the EVs introduced to the market in past couple of years. The Bolt stood out as a risky purchase. Many of these EVs will be stranded without replacement parts and service.
