I like doing the farmer's walk. Works the traps AND forearms, and of course a buncha other stuff.

I have had trouble with growing my traps for years and trust me i used to shrug stupid amount of weight. I now do above knee dead lifts then i do farmers walk supersets with face pulls. Massive amounts of growth over last 6 months of doing this

Snatch grip high pull and hang cleans hammer the traps and the whole upper back. They are alot of fun to do and demand attention to timing and technique that can have good results.

Absolutely correct. Traps are engaged in almost every compound exercise and lift.

Been seeing great results for middle and lower traps from adding in horizontal shrugs on a upper back machine. Awesome to isolate the scapular movement like that... I get funny looks but also some praise from random ppl

Great work like always 👏. I started doing RDL a while back and the pump my traps got I was mind blown. So i would streach at the bottom for 2 seconds and move at a not so fast pace back up squeezing at the top of the motion, really focusing on my mind muscle connection added slabs of size and when I put on shirts I look yoked. Ppl don't belive me when I say use RDL for traps. Like always brother man great information and great videos I been fan of your channel for a while👌

Aside from the primary compounds that target them, one of my favorite shrug variations is on those lever gym machines from Powertec, or Body-Solid, setting the stop pin at a slightly lower setting and walking right in between the handles to shrug, then set the lever arm right down on the pin and easy access walking out.

Honestly I find high rep trap bar power shrugs amazing. I will do 3 straight sets of trap bar shrugs then on the 4th set I will do a 20 rep power shrug finisher with a hold which seemed to blow them up relatively quickly.

I love watching your videos man because I train from home only using free weights doing mostly compound exercises. I'd say the exercise that hits my traps the best since I was 16 in 2013 till today, is the inclined barbel bench press were I push my feet into the ground and my rear delts into the bench and squeeze them together. I just found ur channel a few days back love the aesthetic of raw old school vibe. So you're saying that traps which require a very high volume already get hit hard with heavy rows, ohp deads. Apart from some sets of shrugs, how about some heavy high pulls?

I was calling the shrugs like upright rows but just have a barbell to do them. Anyway I was doing the push press on a leg day so I might switch things. Thanks for the great video.

I recently added dumbbell romanian deadlifts with the weights out to the side- the overall back stress, specifically upper trap, is insane! I'd have to put it right up there among the best trap builders, like trap bar deadlifts and farmers walks.
As for the smaller stuff, I prefer face pulls and rear delt flyes over shrugs. Traps went from meh to pretty good for my overall size.
