💫 Elevate your style using what you already own with WAKE UP YOUR WARDROBE:

Welcome to my channel. I'm so glad you're here. ☺️
I'm Kristen Cain... The Simple Stylist. I'm a style and mindset coach sharing how simplicity in your wardrobe makes it easier to get dressed and look amazing.

I hear some version of this style struggle often... "I have a packed closet and I'm still buying more!" 🛍️ "I have way too many clothes and I can't stop shopping!"

If this sounds familiar... today's video contains coaching that will help. Let's take a closer look at what's really going on with your shopping habits.

Incredible personal style starts with your THOUGHTS. Having thoughts that support the results you want to create with your style makes all the difference. A single limiting belief can prevent you from having (and wearing) a wardrobe you adore!

I always love reading your comments and really try to reply to every single one. Thanks for your patience with my response time. 💕

xx Kristen

I have an asthetic fascination; I like finding beautiful things so I shop but don't buy. It satisfied the urge but saves me tons of money. I prefer to thrift because it's the thrill of the hunt that's so much fun. When I do it, I set a budget ($20 or less) - most of the time I say "okay, one fabulous item for one hour."
I shop less and less the older I get...

I’m going to unsubscribe from online advertising. Most of the time I don’t purchase anything, but I waste a lot of time browsing. Thank you Kristen-great video!

I’m retired and trying to update and clarify my wardrobe. I’m at the point where I don’t really need anything but keep finding more ‘improvements’ and therefore get rid of things that were cheap or didn’t really fit my body or my life. I like your idea of not going beyond the set number of hangars you have and I sort of do that. I do find that I now have a definable style which is classic coastal with an edge. I’m going to plan trips to local travel destinations and branch out to travel overseas using clothing I have. Your videos are so helpful, many thanks.

I’m planning to retire soon so I shop because when I do retire and have less money I’ll have what I need

Th first question about triggers for excess shopping is really fundamental. If buried emotional issues are behind the shopping they are going to need to be explored and healed. The practical tactics for interrupting the shopping are excellent (I’ve used some of these for curbing my excessive shopping for makeup), but setting boundaries for controlling shopping controlled by painful experiences is like going on a diet fo an emotional eater. Risky.

I have an issue with fit and how I look that keeps me searching. I keep looking for clothing that camouflages, or even fits narrow hips and a thick waist. I want to look like someone else's body when I put on clothing.

People who thrift their wardrobes are in it for the thrill of the hunt. I try to donate tons…buy one.(with that 20% off coupon).

Hi Kirsten, I wrote to you about a year ago telling you that I never feel good in any of my clothes. With the help of your channel and soul searching, I have turned this around, I now have weeded out the lazy go tos, I have less, but better quality that suits my lifestyle. Thankyou for your help. I now enjoy getting dressed

Men do as much over-shopping as women, but it's not for clothes, it's power tools and sports gear.

If I like it I buy it. It takes so little effort to shop on line, much less than you have to go to a store. I like the things I buy, don’t really need another thing but I have to learn to not buy unless I need it. Separate need and want. I am often surprised I have a piece, have totally forgotten about it.

I use the hanger method! I have dark wood hangers for cold weather clothes and light wood for warm weather clothes. If I want something new something has to go.

I think the reward should be free so that it doesn’t tempt you to keep shopping.

My mother can’t stop buying a clothes and junk in home.
My father and I tell her about her things but she never listen to me and father.
How to deal with my mother?

Thank you for the video. I don’t see enough creators talk about this. I just started a video series about the book To Buy Or Not To Buy, which is about shopping addiction.
