It’s been a real 10 years. Thank you for the support and the amassing of 260+ million views and nearly 800k subscribers. TheBuffNerds was a breeding ground for groundbreaking independent artists and music videos and I'm beyond proud of everything we created and the careers we helped launch. I'll never forget those times and memories....unfortunately, it's just not what it use to be. Sometimes you just have to know when to walk away. On to the next!✌🏻

Honestly, you are a huge impact on a lot of people & I think it isn’t worth your time with all the successful businesses you are running. Maybe if you brought in somebody to handle your youtube content could be helpful, somebody familiar with the platform, I hate to see this brother, you motivated my team put things into perspective & create content. Maybe less but more powerful content from time to time on here would be ideal.

Overall tho, totally understand if you chose to completely stop brother, support always man.

For someone who's actually in the industry and provides free, quality content that can truly evaluate your work and business barely hit 3K views per video, is sad. Meanwhile, over-glorified beginners that all read off the same script for their videos, get full support from the algorithm. It seems like YouTube likes mediocracy nowadays.

I don't think you're the only one that feels like this.

Wow this one hit me, been watching you since 2015, learned so much from you. It’s probably so hard to do this, can’t even imagine tbh. Thank you for everything you’ve done for the community Mr.Owens

Sorry to hear that, you make great videos, i think it just came down to all those old artists that blew thr channel up either moved on to big labels like Kyle or started doing a bunch of different stuff like Futuristic. Hope you have success in your future projects.

I read the title and a part of me died on the inside.

Honestly this is the right decision. It’s Been a couple weeks since I first started wondering why you only got 1k views on a channel with almost one million subscribers. The problem is not yours, it’s the audience that that’s not there for this type of content. It’s too niche (tutorials, high quality filmmaking real value etc etc) without your personal life added. I follow a lot of accounts with 800k that do daily personal vlogs even though they started with tutorials (mostly fitness). They kept growing because they stopped being only educational, they started sharing their life, personal relationships, running errands, etc. because as humans that’s what we crave: to peep into someone else’s different way of life. Tutorials on filmmaking is just too narrow to maintain a full engaged audience consistently.

You’re a good one Jakob. If you ever come back to YouTube maybe consider being a bit more personal. Although it’s completely understandable if you don’t, you and us were here for the filmmaking in the first place :) just saying that that would translate better in terms of numbers (which is not the most important again ...). For instance, you having breakfast telling us your nutrition, showing your workout, and getting to work and then personal time etc - for some reason people love that...

Anyways,

Best of luck with all your endeavors. Will follow on Instagram 😊😊

Jakob....I just want to say thank you. I truly appreciate everything you have done for the film community and I can honestly say I probably wouldn't be where I'm at today if it wasn't for you. You're one of the most inspiring people I have ever had the pleasure of meeting. Watching you work live on set is an incredible experience. You're the best mentor anyone could ask for. I can't wait to see what you do next. Even though I hardly ever comment, I have literally watched every single video that you have ever posted online and smashed the like button before even watching because I knew the content would always be beneficial. I'm literally your number 1 fan. Nothing but good things to say about you bro. Hurts to see you walk away but I cant wait to see what you do next. I'll make more of an effort to comment and engage on your Instagram. Keep on being amazing and inspiring others Jakob.

That’s fair enough. Really wished I had commented on more videos now. I’ll definitely miss your channel and those cine breakdowns. 🤙🏼

Bud! You’re the one that got me into film making! And encouraged me to invest in gear, that essentially changed my life!

I've been an OG fan ot yours since like 2013 and I can honestly say you are doing the right thing. People evolve, and that's simply what you're doing. If this isn't making you happy then you have to move on. You're right about the not getting notifications part. This is the first video I gotten notified from you in a LONG while. It pains me that the first video I see from you in a while is a goodbye video. But never the less, I do wish you good luck on your next adventure.

Just recently discovered your channel. Have enjoyed watching it and picked up a few production and gear tips by listening and watching closely. Thanks for putting out the content. I know even for us we get so little views on the studio’s youtube channel and struggle to get people to watch. Then I go an direct / shoot a music video and it gets 500k+. Appreciate the time and effort you gave to the community!

You and your work got me in to making music videos. I have learnt a lot from all your different videos and IG content. I was laughed at at film school when I said I wanted to do music videos cos they 'werent real films' but I kept at it as I saw you week in week out uploading cool new music videos and I just wanted to get to that level and keep grinding. Thanks for all the insights but also very real tips on what it's like being a filmmaker as these helped me to decide to pursue the career and also brace me for the negatives of being a freelance filmmaker too. I believe you should be very proud of the community of filmmakers you've helped inspire

You’ve helped and inspired a lot of ppl. I’m sure I speak for others as well as myself when I say we are grateful. Do what’s best for your brother. I as well as others will continue to follow and support you on other platforms. Thanks for all of the content. Can’t wait to see what’s next as your focus shifts.

Wow, this was honestly a shocked and I’m saddened, but understand. I originally subbed from one of your film business videos.

You’re highly successful in turning filmmaking into a viable career. That would be a good niche to focus on should you one day decide to rekindle the channel. That’s what made me subscribe.

There are so many youtubers doing gear reviews and ‘quick hacks, ’ cheap easy content, but you really know the business side and that’s an invaluable thing for the filmmaking community.

All the best from NZ

(btw, loved listening to you on the Indy Mogul podcast with Ted. You’re story how you got started was inspiring)

Man, I totally get it! You have to do what you have to do. I've seen you've putting out a lot of content and it's not being pushed by youtube. Aram K also talked about this problem, a lot of independent quality creators this happens to. It's like youtube favors a lot of the click baity stuff, which makes sense because they want to make money with ads. But it sucks for people who are not about that but still bring a lot of value in other ways. But I feel you have done a lot for the community and you inspired myself also. I wish you well!
