Pewds: I wasn't there in 2013 let's be real here

Also Pewds: Became the most subscribed youtuber in 2013

Back when youtubers were just a bunch of youngsters who wanted to make funny videos. Now, a lot of youtubers act like they're celebrities & act like they're untouchable.

In 2013, it felt like a community. Now it feels like competition against one another

I remember when pewds was the cheeky upstart, the epic rise, the poster boy of youtube, the outcast, and now the wise old hermit! Epic times. The world will end when Pewds hangs up his video cam.

i may not be a fan of pewds vids now but i can say he's one of the only big name youtubers that has still maintained a level of respect and kindness. i'll never forget those childhood memories of watching his videos

This was during a time where everyone took YouTube as just a fun way to express themselves. Way back before the constant stream of fake pranks, drama, extremely edgy content, toxic clickbait, overly obsessive ranting and guilt tripping. It was a way more optimistic internet than the doomer landscape that we’re used to now. Man I miss it …

Edit: To the people in the replies who keep saying that some of this shit still existed back then, be aware, these examples were not on nearly as high of a scale as they’re nowadays. The internet was never a perfect place. But most of us can agree, the internet as a whole has become much more toxic over the years for the most part. NO DOUBT ABOUT IT. This comment wasn’t stating that none of this bs existed back then, but rather, none of this bs was as big enough to gain as much traction as it has now. Hence why I said, “CONSTANT STREAM OF __”, before labeling these examples. Actually read through the comment before replying with such idiocy.

I think there's another explanation in Felix's last statement. Back then people just wants to post videos because it's what they like to do, it was just a hobby but now since Felix was the first person and YouTuber on the platform and break the record. Some people look at Felix and think of themselves "I want to be the next number 1" and from that people do tries thing to achieve that. Not sure who started the "Flex your money on kids" trend started

When I hear these people talk now, like Ryan, Pewds, Jack, they all feel like such dads of the platform. Its so wholesome

Lol I love when people hesitate on Ryan's YT channel name "NEE-GAH-HEE-GAH".
He named it that way so that people were forced to pronounce his last name correctly

this reminds me of how everybody used to be when talking about PewDiePie and just how everybody was so just angry and pissed off and negative about him and now he is one of the last of the old YouTube era.... looks like he lasted longer than what these people thought he would

Also one OG YouTuber I can think of is Tobuscus, it was really fun watching him play minecraft and happy wheels back then, especially his iconic literal trailers. Truly nostalgic memories.

Smosh was my childhood. Ian and Anthony were hilarious and even 8 years after I found their channel I still go back and rewatch their old videos

0:44 ah man that sounded like emotions were almost getting to him.

Genuinely sad to know those times are not only a distant memory, but we’ll never get anything even remotely similar to it ever again
