Salahadeen or Saladin in real life was a very virtuous character and as heroic as people think he was and as this movie depicted him.
At his death, his political rivals and detractors insulted him for being so poor he couldnt afford his own funeral. He gave his own wealth away to charity his entire life, to build mosques, public buildings, roads and fortify forts. They opened his personal treasury and IIRC all that was left was, in today's money, amounted to 2 dollars and a bit more.
And this was one of the most powerful King of his times.

Saladin and Baldwin: I’m surrounded by idiots

After reading more about Saladin, I realised that he had a REALLY tough time trying to get these idiots to fight together. I now understand why at the end of this scene, he says "if I don't deliver war, I have no peace."

Salahaddin and King Baldwin IV were actually the 2 most epic characters of this movie. Both of them bleeds wisdom and radiates virtue lmao

The actor who played Saladin in this movie was so good. I like to think that the real Saladin wasexactly like him.

“If I do not deliver war, I have no peace.”
The dialogue in this film is truly something else.

Very well-casted. The actor who plays Saladin's subtle gesture, the calm demeanor, very regal. Even in black robes you'll know he's king. Also, major crush on the handsome brother.

There ought to be a movie or TV series specifically focussing on Saladin's reign as sultan.

At 1:33, in my opinion, that handshake allowed his subordinate to express his true feelings of the meeting so that - that display would remove the tense atmosphere and protect him from any future harm and suspicion held against him. Saladin has an extraordinary character in this movie.

"When I am not King, I quake for Islam, " truly wise words of Saladin. It sounds like something my Native American grandfather and older wise Native leaders said to me when I was young and firey 23 year old.

This shows how great tactics make the difference in results. Absence of disease, the availability of water, one cannot maintain a siege with the enemy behind. Many factors come into play when making a military move such as a siege. Even the weather.

You can see how both Baldwin and Salahaddin are trying to rule their sides justly and both have angry generals in their ranks pushing for war

Man. I love this actor’s portrayal of Saladin. Saying thank you for your visit after the dude outright threatened them. Forcing him to submit to the shake in front of other. These little nuances are soo good. There was another part of the movie where he says, “I am Saladin” twice consecutively and some dude did a great breakdown on why. Props to the casting director.

Salahuddin truly lives up to his name in this scene considering it means “He who is an example of good, faithful, and pure religion”. He spells out how one dimensional his subordinate is being about his faith, thinking that simply praying and hoping for the best would get results. When in Islam, you should pray AND prepare just as God instructed. Amazing scene.
