Unfed sourdough starter makes amazing crackers! Who knew you could make crackers in your very own kitchen. Easy and delicious.

1 c. unfed sourdough starter
1 c. white whole wheat flour
1/2 t. sea salt
2 T. room temp butter
2 T. olive oil
2 T. dried herbs, if using
oil for brushing tops
coarse salt for sprinkling

Thanks for this recipe idea, watched several videos on this now. Just a suggestion that some put another piece of parchment on top of dough so it is sandwiched and then they roll it.

New subbie here. I love my Danish whisk also, and I love Zaatar. I've been doing more "making from scratch" since Hubs got laid off In early August. He will enjoy these crackers along with our own hand made cheese and his home made summer sausage!

Put a damp kitchen towel, on counter top under the parchment paper while rolling and it doesn't slide around! Same with bowls when you are mixing something, place a damp cloth under the bowl to prevent sliding. For a cutting board, a dry towel will keep it from moving about. I'm going to make these crackers they look tasty!

can i brush the dough with water then sprinkle topping to stick on top?

abfab crackers and so going to make them, scraps could be baked then crushed for crumbs too .

When I try to put herbs on top they fall off. I would use in the dough.

I've always wanted to make my own crackers. I also thought of using the pasta maker to roll the dough, however, very dry doughs don't survive well going through the rolllers. Do you have to use sour dough?

I bet if you had a pasta maker you could run the dough thru it if you did not want to roll it. What do you think?
