Story is fusing Jordan Peele's cultural dynamic with Shelley's classic Frankenstein for his intense directorial debut. The film largely succeeds on the talent of its lead, Laya DeLeon Hayes. Her character inhabits trauma, anger, and sense of loss while maintaining a vulnerability lacking in many seasoned actors.
