He's including women children and French men.

I’d say this dudes numbers are far closer to coach Greg’s. I’d say less than 10% of men even lift regularly.

Greg… most ppl don’t lift. And most ppl who lift can’t bench 315. This isn’t that unbelievable

Every guy I ever talked to could bench we went to the gym. I think the guy is close to accurate

Greg. I've been training for 14 years already and I live in a gigantic city, I've never seen anyone lift 405 in a gym here, and I trained in plenty.
It's extremely rare.

This is pretty accurate IMO. Most gyms, which is already only like 10% of people, there's hardly anyone benching over 2 plates. Most guys bench somewhere between 135 and 185 regularly in any of the gyms I've been in. And that's from Canada, to USA, to Mexico, to Argentina, to Portugal to Croatia. It's just not that common to see 2 plates or more being benched.

Turned 50 last year and benched 225 for my first time..one time. More comfortable benching 205 ish a few times.

The gap from 225 to 315 is crazy huge.

Ignore the noise, if you can only bench the bar that's great, then you add a pound, fantastic, we all start somewhere.

Sometimes hearing Greg break things down is humbling. Used to think it was going to be impossible because of all the inflated numbers I would hear. I did 235 for 7x3 today with less than a year of training! Now, I am pretty overweight but I'm still very happy with my progress. Keeping motivated and starting on the road to 315!

40 year old male... 225lb bench is my summer goal! I'm around 175lb now

I hit 350lbs recently. Lifetime natty, lifting for 18 years. Those numbers made me feel great tbh. Consistency pays off even for natty guys

"can" vs "could" is the problem. Most adult men COULD easily bench press 225 with training, probably close to 95 percent. Can? That's a different story.

Same thing for 315. With consistent progressive training, 315 is achievable by probably close to 50 percent of men naturally.

At 405 the casm is enormous vs 225 to 315.

Even with dedication and the best coaching, you're in the 1-5 percent COULD range naturally. Stars aligned, serious prioritized training. The "can" is so small a percentage as to be basically meaningless.

Outside of the gym world, it's unheard of. Nobody stumbles upon a 405 bench.

Stone Age Greg should be the default intro ...a meme at least.

As a male at 170ish pounds, I take lifting a little more serious than an average guy.
I'm benching 275 right now as a 1 rep max. Trying to get to 315 by summer.

None of my friends can bench over 225(I don't have a lot of friends who workout).
In the gym, I don't see anyone my weight benching 225.
A few heavier then me yes. And a few big fat guys benching 315+

Theres 5 or 6 guys at my small gym, which isnt even the well known bodybuilder gym that can rep 315.

At my old gym years ago there was one guy who could do 5 wheels for reps easy. He was a beast

Literally over half the male population couldnt bench 225lbs purely on age alone.

I was feeling really good about my bench press but thanks for bringing me back to earth.
