Years ago, I once stayed in a little remote coastal village on the north coast of Scotland with a friend. When I was on the beach, we kept seeing dead seals that where washed up. They where badly torn apart and looked like they where even barely eaten. We first thought that it may of been orcas or possibly a Greenland shark. But it could've been something completely different and we'll never know what did it. It does make you wonder what is in the ocean, that hasn't been discovered yet.

I remember seeing in a book called "In the Wake of Sea Serpents" by Bernhard Heuvelmann. A naturalist who studied mythical creatures and even categorized types of sea monsters. I remember seeing a picture from the turn of the century. It was an illustration showing swimmers panicking at the sight of a sea monster from Pablo Beach. It was always a freaky looking illustration so I wondered what the story was to it.

There was once an incident where a Navy ship had trouble with their underwater sensors so they had to return to port and go into dry-dock for repairs. It was discovered that a giant squid had attached itself to the bottom of the ship. Granted the squid was not there, but there was evidence that it had including bits of claws found in the rubber on the bottom that are found in squid tentacles. It reminds me of those old pictures of the legendary Kraken attacking ships; so there might be some truth to the old pictures of ships being attacked by squid or octopus (Granted the damage might not be extensive, but image is there.)
