Islam & Judaism Have Lots in Common | Dr. Shabir Ally

Judaism and Islam have a lot in common in terms of theology, history and scripture, Dr. Shabir Ally says. Both religions emphasize a belief in one god. Judaism stems from the Torah, and Muslims hold it in high regard, though they may not agree that current iterations are originals. Similar stories about Adam, Noah, Abraham and Moses are found in both scriptures. Dr. Shabir says that Judaism has evolved into different sects, from Ultra-Orthodox to Reformers and Reconstructionists. In contrast, Islam has remained fairly unified as a conservative type of community with traditional understandings of the faith. To make a fair comparison, we'd have to compare traditional understandings of Judaism with traditional understandings of Islam. The Life Hereafter is very prominent in the Quran; not so in the Torah. Moreover, Muslims have continued to accept, after the last prophet mentioned in what is now the Old Testament, Jesus and Muhammad.
